Return of the Most-Requested E-mail Deal of last year!

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

Last spring, we featured the previous vintage of today’s email special. It sold out almost overnight. Over the months that followed, it was, by far, the most requested email wine of the entire YEAR. Today, we’re thrilled to feature the new vintage, which is even BETTER than last year’s bottling.

For those not already in the know on this perennial favorite, here’s the scoop: Babich is definitive New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. It explodes with fruit on the nose and zings brilliantly on the palate. Not coincidentally, it is wildly popular in the summertime, and shows beautifully on the patio.

Now, there’s something that you have to bear in mind on this one: Since Babich is one of the world’s most popular Sauvignon Blancs, it is widely available in Wisconsin year-round. However, the crazy pricing we’re offering below is only available for one week a year (this week). In short, NOW is the time to stock up for patio season. We strongly encourage you to take advantage.

Without further ado, allow us to proudly present the
Babich Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2016
“Tropical fruits and lime. The palate is a basket of sun-ripened stone fruits and passionfruit, blackcurrant with just a touch of grapefruit. Gentle power with a dry, lingering finish. This is a classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc which is consistently produced in a fuller, riper, softer style that develops well. Clean, fresh and tropical, with fruit from several vineyards situated throughout Marlborough. Best enjoyed while young.”

Release price: $15/bottle
Wine Cellar email STEAL: just $10.99/bottle, or $9.96 for Insiders Club members!

One-week stock-up BONUS: Now through Saturday, May 13th, include Babich in a mix/match case of ANY 12 bottles from around the store (excluding Club-Only Specials), and we’ll give you a FREE $10.00 Gift Card, good on your next visit! No limit, while supplies of Babich last!

To secure your share of this patio beauty at the one-time pricing, please respond to joel@winecellarofwi.com with your name and quantity desired anytime between now and Wednesday, May 17th. Or, better yet, to “try it before you buy it,” swing by the store anytime today only (Tuesday) for a FREE taste!

FAIR WARNING: As is often the case with our email specials, we only have a finite amount of this one available at the steal pricing. As we mentioned earlier, it sold out in a flash last year, and, at this week’s pricing, we have no doubt that it will sell out quickly once again this year. If the 2016 Babich is a “must-have” for your summer cellar, we strongly urge you to respond as soon as possible.

In the meantime, have a great day, and as always, THANK YOU for your loyal business!

Wine Cellar’s “Power Vintage” Patio Superstar

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

Man, this vintage just keeps getting better and better!

As we’ve mentioned in prior emails, 2015 was a simply magical vintage in France, particularly when it comes to Rhone Valley wines. Wine Spectator recently reviewed the Southern Rhone’s 2015 “Power Vintage,” lauding it with a “classic” rating of 94-97 points. And although most high-end 2015 Rhones are still 6-12 months away from their release dates, the everyday stuff that we’ve tried from this benchmark vintage has been absolutely dazzling.

Today’s feature wine was a wonderful discovery from Herault, just outside of the Southern Rhone. A brilliant example of old-vine Carignan, it has everything we look for in a great Cotes du Rhone, at a fraction of the price. Without a doubt, this little beauty is sure to be a huge hit on many of our patios this summer.

Here’s the best part: Thanks to your collective buying power, we just scored an incredible one-time buy on this French super-value. Today, before putting a single bottle on the shelf, we’re unleashing the entire lot at the hottest pricing in the NATION, while supplies last! In short, it’s stock-up time!

Allow us to proudly present, along with our own tasting notes, the

Mont Gravet Carignan Vielles Vignes 2015
100% Old Vine Carignan.
“Deep ruby in color, the 2015 Mont Gravet opens with aromas of raspberry, cherry, and wild violets. On the palate, the red fruit notes turn earthy, joined by plum and a hint of black pepper on the finish. Drink now – 2018. 90 points.”

Release price: $10/bottle
Wine Cellar email STEAL: just $7.99/bottle, or $6.96 for Insiders Club members, while supplies last!

To secure your share of this 2015 beauty at the one-time pricing, please respond to joel@winecellarofwi.com with your name and quantity desired anytime between now and Wednesday, May 10th. Or, better yet, to “try it before you buy it,” swing by the store anytime today only (Thursday) for a FREE taste! And, by all means, bring your friends!

House favorite Zinfandel sensationally priced!

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

For many of you, today’s feature wine needs no introduction. After all, it’s been one of the most popular Zinfandels in the store for a couple of years now. Last January, it was the #1 seller (by far!) at our annual “Zin Night” tasting.

For those not already familiar with this longtime Wine Cellar favorite, here’s the scoop:

One of the hottest young wineries in California Zin country, Fiddletown Cellars owes its success to several key factors: First and foremost, their owner/winemaker Joe Shebl, is a bona fide “master of Zin,” with 10 years of experience at Renwood (including several as head winemaker). In addition to utilizing Shebl’s elite talent, Fiddletown sources all of their fruit from the top vineyards in the Foothills, home of the grapes for much spendier wines from Rombauer, Renwood, and others.

Recently, Wine Enthusiast reviewed Fiddletown’s entire lineup of 2013 reds, including today’s featured bottle. Predictably, the tasting was a grand slam, with SEVEN bottlings scoring 90 points or higher, including today’s 92-point gem!

Here’s the best part: Thanks to your collective buying power, we just scored the deal of the century on this longtime customer favorite. Today, we’re unleashing the entire lot at the hottest pricing in the NATION, while supplies last! In short, Fiddletown fans, it’s stock-up time!

Allow us to proudly present, along with its glowing 92-point “Editors’ Choice” review from Wine Enthusiast, the

Fiddletown Cellars Old Vine Zinfandel 2013
“This is an outstanding wine from one of the Foothills’ rising star wineries. Dark, concentrated fruit flavors like black currant and dried plum surround a solid texture of firm tannins and ample acidity. It’s a big, extremely tasty wine for an attractive price. 92 points.”

Have a great day, and as always, THANK YOU for your loyal business!

Pasta Night? Here’s the best partner since garlic bread.

We know it’s a hectic week, so we’ll make this short and sweet: Today’s email steal is the best under-$15 Chianti you will try all year.

When we sampled today’s feature wine with our local distributor last month, we found it to be an absolutely delightful Chianti Classico, one that could comfortably command a price point of $20-$25 per bottle. When we learned that we could cut that price nearly in half, we naturally exchanged more than a few high-fives.

Here’s the thing: Most of you will never have a huge stockpile of Chianti in the cellar. And, realistically speaking, you’ll never need a huge stockpile. But you do need one really nice, traditionally-styled Chianti Classico for pasta night. Rest assured, the 2012 Villa Trasqua is that wine. You need a few for your cellar.

Without further ado, allow us to proudly present the

Villa Trasqua ‘Evoluto’ Chianti Classico 2012
Note: the 2012 bottling of Evoluto has not yet been reviewed, but this Wine Enthusiast review of the prior vintage bottling accurately describes it:
“Delicate scents of violet, iris, woodland berry and baking spice abound on this firmly structured red. Made with 95% Sangiovese, the remaining 5% is Colorino and Malvasia Nera. The smooth palate doles out the Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, cinnamon and a hint of chopped herb while a backbone of velvety tannins provides the framework. 92 points.”

In the meantime, have a great day, and as always, THANK YOU for your loyal business!

The “Art” of Cabernet!

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

Red “Patio Pounder” ALERT: Today’s featured wine is easily one of the BEST Cabs we will try at this price point in all of 2017. Wonderfully full-bodied, showcasing a lovely combination of fruit and toasty oak, it was absolutely built for the upcoming grilling season.

Recently lauded by former Wine Spectator critic James Suckling with a mouthwatering 90-point review (below), this off-the-beaten-path gem is proof that you DON’T have to spend a fortune to get quality in a bottle of Cab.
Here’s the best part: Thanks to your collective buying power, we just secured Milwaukee’s ENTIRE allocation of this Cabernet patio star, along with an incredible one-time price. Today, without putting a single bottle on the shelf, we’re unleashing the entire lot at the hottest pricing in the NATION, while supplies last!

Allow us to proudly present, along with its 90 point review from James Suckling, the

Don Rodolfo Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Art of the Andes’ 2015
“Fascinating aromas of fresh mushroom and dark fruit follow through to a full body, tangy acidity and a ripe fruit finish. A little overripe but still outstanding. Drink now. 90 points.”

Zinfandel lovers, rejoice!

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

Zinfandel lovers, rejoice: One of our HOTTEST Zin buys of 2016 is BACK, and better than ever!

As many of you can recall, we featured the 2012 vintage of this Sonoma County fruit bomb as an email special last spring, and it turned out to be one of the most popular offerings of the entire year, with Wisconsin’s largest allocation selling out in a matter of days!

Today, we’ve got good news and great news to share: The newly-released 2013 is drinking even BETTER than the 2012, and thanks to your collective buying power, we’re featuring it today at even BETTER pricing than last year – by FAR the hottest pricing in the NATION! In short, Zin lovers, it’s time to back up the truck!

Allow us to proudly present, along with its glowing 90-point review from Wine Enthusiast, the

Murphy-Goode “Liar’s Dice” Zinfandel Sonoma County 2013
96% Zinfandel, 4% Petite Sirah, aged 16 months in American and French oak
“With sizable yet soft tannins firmly in place, this wine unleashes substantial flavors of raspberry and prosciutto-wrapped fig. Its seamless texture is dotted in vanilla and smoky meat, ending with plush, round knots of blackberry pie.

Washington State Claret ONLY at Wine Cellar. So tasty!

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

Two sentence wine lesson: “Claret” is another word for a blend based on the red grapes of Bordeaux (namely Cabernet, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and/or Petit Verdot). With very few exceptions, Clarets are priced for everyday enjoyment, and they always show substantially better than their modest price points.

Today’s feature wine is an exceptional example of just how satisfying a quality Claret can be.

A lovely, small-production blend with Cabernet in the starring role, Airfield’s Estate Red (Claret) is going to make a lot of the Napa Cab lovers among you very happy this grilling season. When we had a chance to try it last month, it took all of about four seconds for us to order as much as we could.

Which brings us to the fun part: Thanks to your collective buying power, we just secured every single bottle of this red beauty allocated to the Milwaukee market, along with an incredible one-time price. Today, before putting a single bottle on the shelf, we’re unleashing the entire lot at the hottest pricing in the NATION, while supplies last! In short, it’s stock-up time.

Allow us to proudly present, along with the winemaker’s tasting notes, the

Airfield Estates Red Wine Yakima Valley 2014
56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot, aged 11 months in neutral oak.
“This red blend is big and bold with a full-bodied mouthfeel, pronounced tannins, and distinct flavors of plum, dark berry, spice, and a touch of herbaceousness.”

In the meantime, have a great day, and as always, THANK YOU for your loyal business!
