Sleeper hit of a tremendous vintage!

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

WOW, Napa Cab lovers – today is your day!

Before we jump into today’s email steal (and it’s a doozy!), we have tasting news you DON’T want to miss: Featuring FIVE Napa reds with Robert Parker scores between 91-95 points, and over $450 in total value, this is, by FAR, Milwaukee’s BEST $10.00 Napa tasting of the YEAR! Complete details are posted just after the signature of this email. We hope you can join us!

Now, back to today’s feature wine, a Napa blockbuster in its own right…

I have to admit, when my sales rep handed me the sample of today’s wine a few weeks ago, I rolled my eyes a little. After all, RouteStock has made a lot of wines over the years, and I’ve never been a huge fan. Don’t get me wrong: Their wines have always been solidly made, and decent values. They’ve just never had a bottle with that “special something.”

Sensing my eye roll, the sales rep pushed on. “Just take this one home,” he insisted. “They nailed it this time,” he continued.

He was right.

I can’t quite put my finger on what RouteStock changed when they went about making their 2014 bottling of Napa Cab. What I do know is that, once in the glass, this particular effort drank exactly like a Napa Cab in the $30-$50 range. It paired brilliantly with the Ribeye I grilled later that day, and will surely be the star attraction in more than a few cookouts later this summer.

When I returned to work the next day, I researched the 2014 bottling a bit further, and found that Robert Parker agreed with my assessment, appropriately dubbing it “sleeper of the vintage.” Shortly after reading his review, I put in the call to the distributor, eager to secure the best deal possible for you.

Here’s the best part: Thanks to your collective buying power, we just scored a phenomenal one-time deal on this Napa super-value. Today, before putting a single bottle on the shelf, we’re unleashing the entire lot at the hottest pricing in the NATION, while supplies last! Take it from your friends in the wine business: This is one to grab by the case(s), and enjoy for years to come. Don’t sleep on this one!

Allow us to proudly present, along with Robert Parker’s mouthwatering review, the

RouteStock Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2014
“The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, an inexpensive blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, is soft and juicy, with a deep ruby/plum/purple color, loads of cassis and black cherry fruit, soft tannins, excellent concentration and good purity. This is a sleeper of the vintage and a terrific value from Napa! Drink it over the next 4-5 years.”

As big and sexy as 94 points has ever been!

Putting it short and sweet: Today’s featured wine is most likely the highest-rated under-$30 Napa Red to hit Milwaukee in all of 2017! We’ve tried it. We love it. We could elaborate, but since Robert Parker’s 94-point review (below) is one of his most verbose in years, we’ll just let him tell the story.

Oh, we will add this, though: Thanks to your collective buying power, we just secured the deal of the century on this Napa blockbuster. Today, without putting a single bottle on the shelf, we’re unleashing the entire lot at the hottest pricing in the NATION, while supplies last! We highly recommend stocking up while you can.

Here it is, along with Robert Parker’s glowing 94-point review, the

Bootleg Proprietary Red Napa Valley 2013
“The 2013 Proprietary Red from Bootleg is a major sleeper of not only the vintage, but in its entire concept. There are just over 8,000 cases of this wine, which has been culled from KJ vineyards on Atlas Peak, Oakville, Mt. Veeder, Rutherford and Spring Mountain.

The wine is a blend of 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Petite Sirah, 21% Zinfandel, 12% Merlot, and the rest Malbec and Petit Verdot. That’s like throwing in the entire kitchen sink, but the result is a stunningly delicious, complex, big-time, sexy style of wine with a deep, opaque purple color, a beautiful nose of blackberries and blueberries, with some lavender Provençal herbs, licorice and a touch of espresso. The wine has a fabulous texture, a plush, full-bodied mouthfeel, and beautiful purity and depth. It’s something that could only be made in California, given the blend, but it is off-the-charts in terms of its hedonistic appeal. At the same time, it is complex enough to satisfy the intellectual senses as well. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. A big-time winner. 94 points.”

Release price: $39/bottle
Wine Cellar email STEAL: just $28.99/bottle, or $25.96 for Insiders Club members, while supplies last!

Yep, you read that right. NOW is the time to stock up on this gorgeous Napa Red at America’s HOTTEST pricing – with Insiders Club members saving OVER 33% OFF of release! O’Shaughnessy Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder 2013
96 points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: “The blockbuster 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and 100% from Mt. Veeder. This is magnificent, with blue and black fruits galore, a dense, opaque purple color, and notes of creamy oak interwoven with enormous quantities of highly extracted fruit and velvety tannins in a voluptuously textured, multi-layered stunner. This wine still shows plenty of grip and tannin, so give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 30 years. This is a big-time winner. 96 points.”
Regular price: $109.99/bottle
Summer Sizzler SALE price: just $79.95/bottle, while supplies last!Four Star Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2014

35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec, 10% Petit Verdot, aged sur lie in American Oak.

Regular price: $14.99/bottle
Summer Sizzler SALE price: just $11.95/bottle, while supplies last!

‘InZINerator’ Zinfandel California 2013
78% Zinfandel, 9% Syrah, 6% Barbera, 7% Forte.
Notes from winemaker Scott Harvey: “Full of big, bold, black cherry flavors, it is a lone warrior in the world of basic Zinfandels. Oak aging contributes to the rounded complexity, with just a hint of sweetness. Try this wine with any grilled meat or chicken, or pair with pizza, pasta and burgers!”
Regular price: $14.99/bottle
Summer Sizzler SALE price: just $10.95/bottle, while supplies last!

Columbia Crest Grand Estates Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley 2015
NOTE: The freshly-released 2015 vintage of this perennial favorite has yet to be reviewed by any of the major publications, but Wine Spectator’s 91-point review of the 2014 accurately describes this one. Here it is:
“Broad and generous, open-textured and inviting, with cherry, currant and red plum flavors that swirl enticingly around the fine-grained tannins and creamy oak on the finish. Drink now through 2018. Best Value. 91 points.”
Regular price: $9.99/bottle
Summer Sizzler SALE price: just $6.95/bottle, while supplies last!

Garnacha de Fuego Old Vines Garnacha Aragon 2014
“The best vineyards of Aragon are situated high on the hillsides, 3000 feet above sea level, where, despite the poor, gravelly soil, the old gnarled vines produce the finest grapes possible in this arid, desolate region. Only the ripest clusters are chosen, thus producing a wine of considerable depth and finesse. The wine exudes intense aromas of sweet cherries and dark plums, with an exotic, spicy finish reminiscent of white pepper.”
Regular price: $8.49/bottle
Summer Sizzler SALE price: just $5.95/bottle, while supplies last!

Gerard Bertrand ‘Perles de Sauvignon Blanc’ 2015
“Crystal clear, pale profile. The Perles de Sauvignon Blanc is characterized by attractive citrus aromas. Nicely rounded on the palate. Serve as an aperitif, with shellfish, grilled fish, or fresh goat cheese.”
Regular price: $15.49/bottle
Summer Sizzler SALE price: just $11.95/bottle, while supplies last!

Matchbook Old Head Chardonnay Dunnigan Hills 2015
“To showcase the wine’s rich Chardonnay character, we aged it for eight months in “Old Heads” – barrels that have been used for a past vintage, so there is less oak extraction. What remains is a subtle touch of oak that plays a supporting role to Chardonnay’s bright fruit flavors. The result is a beautifully balanced blend of tropical fruit flavors with a background of vanillin oak. Apricot/peach aromas dominate, while crisp apple and lemony citrus flavors create a lively mouthfeel.”
Regular price: $13.99/bottle
Summer Sizzler SALE price: just $9.95/bottle, while supplies last!

Murphy-Goode ‘The Fume’ Sauvignon Blanc North Coast 2015
“Like a classic guitar riff, The Fume may be enjoyed on its own or as the rhythm of a larger ensemble. The wine displays a bright, intriguing range of tropical flavors that harmonize with orange blossom and tangerine. Vibrant acidity and a rich mouthfeel allow it to stand up to any kind of seafood, from coconut shrimp to oysters on the half-shell.”
Regular price: $9.99/bottle
Summer Sizzler SALE price: just $7.95/bottle, while supplies last!

Charles Thomas Cotes du Rhone Rose 2016
70% Grenache, 30% Syrah
Tasting notes from Wine Spectator: “Light, with pretty rosewater and white cherry notes followed by a twinge of watermelon rind through the finish. Drink now.”
Tasting notes from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: “The light salmon colored 2015 Cotes du Rhone Rose offers fleeting notes of orange blossom and cherry in a medium to light-bodied, simple style.”
Our notes: “Bright, classically-styled dry Rose. Fantastic value!”

Big Red fanatics, this 93pt gem is for you!

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

Big Red fanatics, this one is almost too good to be true: A lip-smacking, World-Class Australian superstar, selling for nearly 60% OFF of release!

Before we get into the pricing, though, we should let you know what it is: Beautifully crafted Barossa Valley Mataro.

Although you may not know it, there’s a good chance you’ve enjoyed Mataro on more than a few occasions. Also known as Mourvedre in France, or Monastrell in much of Spain, the Mataro grape is one of the world’s great blending grapes. It is an essential element of any great GSM, providing much of the wine’s power and personality on the palate. When thrust into the starring role, Mataro makes for a bold, dark, peppery Red that stands up to the biggest foods, especially those coming off of the grill.

Massena’s Mataro is, quite simply, one of the best examples we’ve tried in years. From its inviting aromas to long, resonating finish, it delivers a sip seldom experienced in Reds under $50.

Here’s the best part: Thanks to your collective buying power, we just secured Milwaukee’s ENTIRE allocation of this Big Red Blockbuster, along with an incredible one-time price. Today, before putting a single bottle on the shelf, we’re unleashing the entire lot at the hottest pricing in the NATION – over 58% OFF of release – while supplies last! In short, red wine lovers, it’s stock-up time!

Allow us to proudly present, along with its glowing 93-point review from Wine & Spirits, the

Massena Mataro Barossa Valley 2010
“When a heat wave took out their Grenache, Dan Standish and Jaysen Collins decided to bottle this Mataro on its own. You might find it spicy, with scents of green peppercorns and game and, yes, it’s rustic, lean, and as dry as a leather saddle. But those savory elements are relieved by tart strawberry flavors and smooth-grained tannins that leave a clean feel. Smooth and mouthwatering, this is pretty great Mataro. 93 points.”
Release price: $36/bottle
Wine Cellar email STEAL: Just $16.99/bottle, or $14.96 for Insiders Club members, while supplies last!

Another winner of the “Christina Challenge”

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

Huge news, Chardonnay lovers! We just found another bottle that passes the “Christina Challenge.” Today, we’re thrilled to share it with you at the hottest pricing in the NATION, while supplies last!

For those not already familiar with the “Christina Challenge,” here’s the scoop:

Two of our closest friends, Matt and Christina, are very much into wine. Many of our fondest memories together revolve around great bottles and sensational food.

Dating back to the Wine Cellar’s very early days, we have always had a standing order from Christina, one that could best be described as a challenge: find a replacement for her Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Chardonnay (a.k.a. “Christina’s KJ”).

Now, before we go on, we should note that Christina knows her Chards. We’ve shared some amazing high-end bottlings together over the years, and she definitely appreciates the good stuff. But when it comes to the everyday, weeknight pour, Christina has always returned “home” to the easy-drinking comfort of her KJ. And as much as she loves her KJ, she is constantly on the search for a replacement that could deliver the same kind of weeknight-priced joy. Hence her standing challenge to us: Find a California Chardonnay priced at $11.99 or less with the same flavor profile as Kendall-Jackson, at a higher quality level.

If you know anyone that shares Christina’s affection for Kendall-Jackson, you know that this is NOT a small challenge. Aromatic, fruit-driven, with just the slightest hint of sweetness, KJ is made in a style that is VERY difficult to replicate at its reasonable pricing ($9.94 in our Club-Only Specials section, as listed at the bottom of this email). It is no coincidence that KJ has ranked among the top-selling Chardonnays in America for decades.

As some of you may recall, we scored a huge winner in the “Christina Challenge” a couple of years ago when we discovered Woodwork Chardonnay. To this day, Woodwork remains one of Christina’s everyday house pours, and one of the top-selling Chards in store history.

Last month, we once again got an excited text from Matt. In short, we did it again! Long Barn Winery, a small Napa-based operation, delivered an everyday California Chardonnay that was every bit as surprising and delightful to her as that first bottle of Woodwork in 2015!

Almost immediately after receiving Matt’s text, we went to work on negotiating an email buy. Today, thanks to the incredible one-time deal that followed, we’re thrilled to unleash this California hidden gem at the hottest pricing in the NATION, while supplies last!

Allow us to proudly present, along with our own tasting notes, the

Long Barn Chardonnay California 2015
“Pale gold in color, the 2015 Long Barn Chardonnay opens with lush aromas of peach, pear, and vanilla custard. The same flavors follow through on a decidedly creamy palate, joined by subtle green apple notes in the background that linger throughout the clean finish. Drink now. 90 points.”

“Napa Cab this good doesn’t EXIST at this price point.” Except here!

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

On Friday, May 26th, to kick off Memorial Day weekend, we poured a FREE tasting for our Insiders Club members and their guests. That night, a star was born: Hess’s 2014 “Allomi” Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

In a blockbuster lineup featuring several of the most popular wines in the store, this full-bodied Napa Cab bombshell wowed the crowd, outselling the next three wines in the tasting COMBINED! As one enthusiastic fan exclaimed, “Napa Cab this good doesn’t EXIST at this price point.”

In retrospect, we shouldn’t be all that surprised that the ‘Allomi’ was a home run that night. After all, Hess has been making quality Napa Cabernet for decades, and 2014 was a phenomenal year throughout the region. In addition, the critics have been gushing about this particular bottle ever since its release: Wine Spectator called it “approachable and sophisticated,” while Robert Parker lauded it as a major sleeper of the vintage.” Knowing what we know now, we’d be surprised if it WASN’T one of the most popular wines we’ve ever poured.

Here’s the best part: Thanks to your collective buying power, we just scored an unbelievable one-time deal on this crowd-pleasing Napa Cab. Today, we’re unleashing the entire lot at the hottest pricing ANYWHERE in Wisconsin, while supplies last! In short, it’s stock-up time.

Allow us to proudly present, along with our own tasting notes, the

The Hess Collection Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Allomi’ Napa Valley 2014
80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petite Sirah, 7% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in American oak.
“Deep red in hue, the 2014 ‘Allomi’ opens with a rich bouquet of blackberry, black cherry and boysenberry. On the palate, classic Cabernet notes of red currant and cassis take the lead, with subtle black licorice lingering in the background. The finish is long and pleasant, with flavors lingering on a mouth-coating bed of soft tannins. Drink now – 2025. 92 points.”

This wine is now completely sold out, and we are unable to obtain

any additional bottles at the steal pricing. Sorry for any inconvenience.
