Sensational Bargain from a Sensational Vintage!

There are good vintages, there are great vintages, and then, there are “Power Vintages.”

For much of Europe, and especially France’s Rhone Valley, 2015 was a “Power Vintage.” Thanks to near-perfect growing conditions, producers across the valley are delivering their best bottlings in years. Most of the Rhone’s top wines have yet to be reviewed, but Wine Spectator has already lauded the Southern Rhone’s 2015 vintage with a “classic” rating of 94-97 points. In an in-depth article, the good folks at Wine Spectator detail the vintage’s many strengths. Long story short: this is going to be a great year to stock up on age-worthy Rhones!

Today’s steal will make a great start to your collection of 2015 Rhones. Rich and densely packed, it’s built like a much spendier Chateauneuf du Pape, and is sure to improve in the cellar over the years to come. And best of all, thanks to an incredible one-time deal from our local distributor, you have the chance to secure some at the hottest pricing in the NATION, while supplies last!

Allow us to proudly present, along with its glowing review from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, the

Ogier ‘Artesis’ Cotes du Rhone 2015
60% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre
“More black fruit-driven, with lots of black olive, tapenade, pepper and earth, the 2015 Artesis medium to full-bodied, nicely textured and concentrated on the palate. It’s a seriously good Cotes du Rhone that will evolve gracefully through at least 2023.”

Release price: $20
Wine Cellar email STEAL: just $12.99/bottle, or $10.96 for Insiders Club members!

The Prisoner Little Brother at Wisconsin’s Hottest Price!

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

For many of you, today’s wine needs no introduction, so we’ll keep it short and sweet.

Over the past decade, no red wine has had a bigger impact on northern California’s wine industry than The Prisoner. In a world previously dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, this high-end Zinfandel blend changed the game overnight. From the moment of its inception, consumers and critics alike have been dazzled by The Prisoner’s unique combination of decadent aromatics and lush, rich fruit and spice on the palate. Not coincidentally, it has been one of the fastest growing premium wines in the world in recent years, forcing legions of doubters to realize that Zinfandel can truly deliver great things.

As some of you already know, The Prisoner has a “little brother” – a delightfully opulent Zinfandel named Saldo (Latin for “from here and there,” referencing its many elite vineyard sources in Sonoma, Mendocino, Sierra Foothills, etc.). At a whopping 15.9% ABV, Saldo is a full-throttle, mouth-coating behemoth that was built for fans of the biggest of Big Reds. Naturally, it’s a perennial favorite here at the Wine Cellar, and always a top seller.

Here’s the best part: Thanks to your collective buying power, we just secured an unbelievable one-time deal on this latest lip-smacking vintage of Saldo. Today, without putting a single bottle on the shelf, we’re unleashing the entire lot at the hottest pricing we have EVER seen on ANY vintage in Saldo’s 10-year history, crushing the big liquor stores and online “discounters” by 30% or more! In short, big red lovers, it’s stock-up time!

Allow us to proudly present this full-bodied behemoth, along with the winemaker’s mouthwatering notes, the

The Prisoner Wine Co. ‘Saldo’ Zinfandel 2015
“The wine displays a dark ruby color with bold aromas of blackberry, plum, and clove. The entry is rich and full, with juicy acidity encircled in flavors of Mexican chocolate, cherry and vanilla extract. There is a voluptuous and persistent finish with smooth tannins.”

This wine has now sold out, and we are unable to obtain any additional bottles at the steal pricing.

THANK YOU for your loyal business!

Aussie Quartage or Margaux Cru Bourgeouis?

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

For many of you, today’s email steal needs no introduction. After all, it has been one of Australia’s top under-$25 red blends for years.

For those not already familiar with this Cabernet-based gem, Robert Parker recently summed it up perfectly: “Believe it or not, (the 2012 Shotfire Quartage) comes across as a good cru bourgeouis from the appellation of Margaux!”

In short, ‘Quartage’ is a wonderful Australian red that somehow forgets that it is an Australian red. In a land littered with hollow “fruit bombs,” this Bordeaux blend shows lovely structure and length seldom seen in reds at this price point. Seriously good stuff!

Here’s the best part: Thanks to your collective buying power, we just scored an insane end-of-vintage deal on this little beauty. Today, without putting a single bottle on the shelf, we’re blowing out the entire lot at the hottest pricing on the planet, up to 50% OFF of release pricing! Yep, it’s stock-up time.

Here it is, along with its glowing 90 point review from Wine Spectator, the

Thorn-Clarke Shotfire Quartage Barossa Valley 2012
52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 15% Petit Verdot and 13% Malbec, aged 12 months in French oak.
“Offers great presence, hanging the juicy black currant, blackberry and floral flavors on an upright frame, persisting easily on an open-textured finish. Drink now through 2018. 90 points.”

Release price: $22/bottle, but we have a little more for much less.

In the meantime, have a great day, and as always, THANK YOU for your loyal business!

Zinfandel Lovers: don’t take our word for this.

Don’t take our word for it. Really. DON’T.

We DON’T want you to believe our claims that today’s email special is the best under-$15 Zin we’ve tried in months.

We DON’T want you to believe our claims that today’s email special is a brilliant example of California’s legendary 2013 vintage, booming with layered and lively fruit.

We DON’T want you to believe our claims that today’s email special is a wonderfully food-friendly crowd-pleaser that will pair PERFECTLY with a certain football game being played on Sunday at roughly 2:05 p.m.

InZINerator California 2013
78% Zinfandel, 9% Syrah, 6% Barbera, 7% Forte.
91 points tastings.com: “Bright dark garnet color. Fruity, toasty, earthy aromas and flavors of black raspberries, planked oak, crushed peppercorns, and gravel-baked parchment with a slightly chewy, tangy, dry full body and a peppery, amusing, brisk finish with earthy, papery tannins and moderate oak. Exceptional.”
Notes from winemaker Scott Harvey: “Full of big, bold, black cherry flavors, it is a lone warrior in the world of basic Zinfandels. Oak aging contributes to the rounded complexity, with just a hint of sweetness. Try this wine with any grilled meat or chicken, or pair with pizza, pasta and burgers!”

Our #1 Washington Cab of 2016 at Wisconsin’s HOTTEST price!

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

For many of you, today’s email special needs no introduction. After all, last year’s release was one of the most popular wines in the entire store.

And you weren’t the only ones that loved it. Wine Spectator gushed over this Washington Wonder, lauding it with a 92 point review and the #32 spot on their annual list of the “Top 100 wines of the year, making it the highest-ranking under-$20 Cab on the planet!

If you liked last year’s 2014 vintage bottling, you’re going to absolutely LOVE the 2015. The wine itself hasn’t yet been rated, but the vintage as a whole just received a Wine Spectator rating of 92-95 points (eclipsing 2014’s rating of 91-94), which bodes well for the wine’s score later in the year. Rest assured, you’re going to be a fan! We hope you’ll take advantage.

Allow us to proudly present the

Intrinsic Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley 2015
NOTE: This latest vintage release of Intrinsic has not yet been reviewed by any of the major critics. However, Wine Spectator’s92-point review of the prior vintage bottling accurately describes this one. Here it is:

Napa Red at the Hottest Price, Happy New Year, indeed!

Nine days into the New Year, and we’ve already scored one of the HOTTEST Napa deals that will hit Milwaukee in all of 2017!

For many of you, today’s featured wine needs no introduction. After all, as you can attest, it was a runaway hit at our Napa vs. Sonoma tasting last summer. Complex yet approachable, with scrumptious layers of fruit and oak, it dazzled the crowd. Not coincidentally, it was one of the first wines in the tasting to sell out.

In the months since that delicious August afternoon, we have pestered our local distributor for a deal on this Napa favorite. Last week, after months of rejection, our persistence FINALLY paid off with an incredible one-time deal!

Without further ado, allow us to proudly present the

Eaglestone Winery Napa Valley Cuvee Red 2013
Proprietary blend of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Merlot, and Petite Sirah
“A dry red wine that is medium-bodied, but deceptively rich in flavor and depth from a dollop of oak. The nose exhibits fig, caramelized sugar, coffee and chocolate, while the palate brings ripe cherries, berries, and dark plum together with cedar, sandalwood and coffee. Delightfully engaging and balanced, with good acidity on the long finish.”

Release price: $24/bottle, but we have it for MUCH less on our shelf.

In the meantime, have a great day, and as always, THANK YOU for your loyal business!

Your palate runs the show here.

Dear Wine Cellar Customers,

As many of you know, sampling is VERY important to us. In fact, almost all of our email specials are available for FREE sampling on the day the email is sent, regardless of price point.

There is a very good reason for this, one of the core philosophies of our business. Simply put, we believe that no palate is more important than yours. We may love a wine, the critics may love a wine, or opinions may vary wildly – in the end, none of our opinions matter. You pay the bills around here. Your palate runs the show. We’re just here to find bottles that will satisfy that palate.

With that in mind, we’re eager to pour FREE samples of today’s featured reds for you. We think they’re both fantastic finds, but it really isn’t up to us. We encourage you to stop in today, take a couple of FREE sips, and let your palate decide. You’ll be glad you did!

Allow us to proudly present, along with the winemaker’s notes, the

Pinot Lovers: time to Run Riot!

It’s going to be hard to introduce this one without getting verbose, so here’s the Cliff’s Notes version: If you love the new “Big Pinot” style first made famous by Meiomi Pinot Noir, you DEFINITELY want to load up on this wine. Feel free to scroll down to the pricing and tasting notes below and hit “reply” with your order quantity.

Now, for the lengthier version of the story:

As Meiomi Pinot Noir fans can attest, there are very, very few wines quite like it. Though technically a Pinot Noir, it is actually crafted as a blend of Pinot and “bigger” grapes like Grenache and Syrah. As a result, it delivers a profile that is much bigger, richer, and fuller than traditional Pinots available, particularly at its modest price point ($16.96 in our Club-Only Specials section).

Meiomi has been one of the most amazing overnight success stories in the history of California winemaking. Last year, less than eight years after its initial vintage release, Meiomi was sold to Constellation Brands for a whopping $315 million. Next year, it is projected to be the top-selling Pinot on the planet.

As you might guess, Meiomi’s astronomical success has led to a wave of new “big Pinot” releases. We’ve tasted dozens of them over the past year, each crafted in a similar style, but none quite capturing the same mojo that made Meiomi a star.

Then we tried Run Riot. Wow.

Named for the wild boars that live on the vineyard property, Run Riot is a blockbuster of a “big Pinot,” delivering a rollercoaster ride of cherry and exotic spice on a full-bodied, rich palate. We sampled it side-by-side against the latest vintage of Meiomi, and concluded that it would be impossible for any Meiomi fan not to love this Pinot.

Here’s the best part: Thanks to your collective buying power, we just scored a phenomenal one-time deal on this full-bodied Pinot powerhouse. Today, we’re unleashing the entire lot at the hottest pricing EVER seen in Wisconsin! In short, “Big Pinot” fans, it’s stock-up time.

Allow us to proudly present, along with the winemaker’s notes, the

Run Riot Pinot Noir Central Coast 2014
“Turning the traditional Pinot on its head, Run Riot Pinot Noir is a sly cacophony of Central Coast flavors from vineyards in Arroyo Seco, Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County.
Beginning with restless aromas of dark cherry, spice and smoked meat, notes of black fruit are feverishly pursued by cocoa powder and barbecued spices balanced with bright acid and soft, round tannins on the fortuitous finish.”

Release price: $19.99/bottle, but we’ve got it for MUCH less!
